Åre Mountains are Sweden’s Alps. Those wanting to get the most out of their skiing come here. Downhill skiing is naturally the highpoint for many, but there are other equally enjoyable activities available. The surrounding nature offers a variety of experiences like cross country skiing on prepared trails or in the wild, snow mobileing, adventures with dog teams, winter fishing, winter riding and much more.

  • Thirteen kilometers from Trostebacken is Åre, and from there you can take a cabel lift up to Åreskutans top station.
    Tännforsen. Sweden's largest waterfall. Impressive summer as winter. Tännforsen have a total fall of 38 meters.
    On top of a hill outside Åre is Carolinians monument raised over the 600 Carolinians who were buried here January 20 in 1719.
    Around 30 km from Trostebacken is Vålådalen. From here starts several marked tracks. Among other things you can find a easy track up on Ottfjället.

  • At 735 meters above sea, just on that level where tree can live, is Storulvåns tourist station located. To drive there from Trostebacken will take about an hour.
    Handöl is best known for extraction of Soapstone (also known as steatite or soaprock), but here is also a powerful waterfall to see.
    From Vålådalen is a easy oriented track up to the Churchstone. The name comes from a Saami boy was that baptized on this place during the 1700s.
    About ten km from Trostebacken is another big waterfall located, Ristafallet. The waterfall is 50 meters wide and has a total drop of 14 meters.
